Amber Denslow: Breathing seemed to be forced, as if she was pushing the air out rather than keeping the position of the inhale. Tone quality seemed breathy, I wondered if this was because her vocal chords aren't coming completely together. I would suggest maybe that she speak the text first, and then sing a phrase, I think it would help her find common ground between her speaking and singing voice. Cindy suggested that she transpose the piece down so that she could find the purpose and direction of the pitch more easily by locating the pitch center, transposing, and singing without consonants it would help her find purpose her melodic phrases.
Mariah Boyer: It seemed as if she was holding her breath rather than letting it feel like it was constantly moving. There were some intonation problems due to the rigidity of posture, and breath. She seemed to loose the soft palate in the lower range of her phrases. The intonation, and soft palate was fixed when she thought of the emotions and thoughts behind the harmony/text. Cindy pointed out that often in german the words at the ends of phrases are verbs, which hold meaning and context, so in german we have to stay energized in order to really convey the story and meaning to the song.
Ben Shaw: I sensed a lot of tension in his neck and back, and it effected his breath management. I also saw that he draws his chin downward, and I wondered if this was due to the tension in his back and neck. Body seemed to be fighting with itself. But when Cindy helped him find that release, it looked much more comfortable. I enjoyed his sound better too, it was much more free.
