Chapter Summary: Visualizing the goal or the plan ahead can often bring down the walls we build around our faults. There are two things that must be present in order to "visualize": we must have both the image associated with the task, and the feeling of the physical gesture associated with the task. This leads us to a certain kinesthetic awareness. We must imagine ourselves succeeding, because "if we imagine sloppily, we play sloppily; if we imagine clearly and precisely, that is how we play."
Key Terms: visualizing, internal thinking, "awareness through movement"
Key Concepts: Visualize in short chunks, in order to not overwhelm yourself.
Making Connections: I have been memorizing music by imagining myself singing it this semester, and I've found that I understand not only the text and music relationship better, but I have a better comprehension of the overall message, because I'm visualizing, and really focusing on the big picture. This has also helped me keep the position of the inhale, and low deep breaths.
