Bric Slade ER Chpt. 12

Bric Slade ER Chpt. 12

Trust, is a huge issue in singing, but not only singing, in everything we do. The problem is, we don't trust ourselves to do things right. Sometimes, when problems have followed us like an old friend, we are afraid of trying something new because we are afraid of failure. So we creep back to that bad influence of a friend and stay mediocre. Correcting mistakes takes experimentation. For the most part we can't correct things without failure at first. Thomas Edison failed so many times when he was trying new ways to create the light bulb. If he had given up and just stuck with candle light where would we be now? The exact same thing applies in our lives. Our job is to identify those problems and not be afraid to loose them when the time comes to move on.

Key Terms: Experiment, Failure

Key Concepts: Trust in yourself, rather than your crutches.

Connection: I need to drop my crutches. I'll never find my genius if I stay on my training wheels. The worse thing that happens is I fail, but I can get right back up and try again.
