Taylee. Summary: I think we sometimes get caught up in thinking that there is only one way to do everything. I think there is such a thing as a right, or correct, goal, the goal being to understand a concept. Really understanding something is more than just spouting off an answer, but knowing how, when, why, etc. So the question is, "How do we get there?" Well, only you can know. As students, we need to take the initiative and seek out our personal solution. As a teacher, we need to allow our students to discover things for themselves, and only offer our knowledge when needed.
Key Concepts: If the student is part of the process of discovery, the solution to a problem then becomes a personal triumph or a self-given gift. You learn how to teach, by learning how to learn. you cannot adopt any system without sacrificing the integrity of your own internal source of wisdom.

Making Connections: I think a really good way to demonstrate the ideas of this chapter is to look at our practice outside of a lesson. I think for a long time I was too dependent on my lesson. In my head, I didn't want to practice a ton outside of my lesson, because I didn't want to practice things incorrectly and then make them permanent. I focused too heavily on the how my teacher was getting me to do things correctly, instead of what was correct. Perhaps if I pay closer attention what the goal is I'm trying to accomplish it won't matter if I make a few mistakes. I'll be able to distinguish my actions from whether they are taking me closer or further away from my target, and therefore know which ones to continue practicing. Everyday is going to be different, so I need to know for myself how to maneuver my way in the right direction.
