Shalayna LS 10/2

This week I had trouble with the e vowel again. But the cool thing was, I finally found the sensation of my difficulty. My e vowel feels like a pop in my sound. During my vocalizes, I could sense the pockets of air that were constantly coming up. I never realized this sensation before.  I was just happy that we found it rather than dwelling on the fact that it’s a problem. Even though we found this issue, I felt great in my lesson. I felt attentive and energetic in my body. My breath felt supported and I was so eager to find the pinpoint of my sound. I noticed exactly how much energy it takes to focus my sound because it can get out of control.  My goal of the semester, and maybe even the year, is to get the same sensation that happens in the height of my voice down to my lower register.

While sing my piece, I realized that I have the tendency the clip (tension in my throat) the first word of the phrases, rather than connecting them to the breath.  Once I took a good supported breath, the tension of trying to get the words and the right notes was released and felt a lot better.

It was very helpful to group and chunk the notes that were unsure.
