In the introduction to this book W. Stephen Smith tells us about the path that he took to gain the knowledge that he has. He talked about how he was born to hard working parents that wanted what was best for him but he had a different opinion and wanted to study music instead of math. Not only that but he relly invested himself in learning music and how to teach it and help others understand. This book is intended to reorganize existing theories and methods in a new way that is easy to understand, that will help to unmask the true sound of any singer that is hiding their voice beneath what they think they should sound like and what habits they have formed to achieve that sound.
Key Concepts:
Be true to yourself and your sound.
Key Words:
Authenticity
Inventions (Mechanical)
Connections:
What kinds of things have I done to affect my voice that are not completely natural? what things should I strip away from my voice? For me I have to remove tension of jaw and tongue, singing and speaking off my voice, and too controlled vibrato.
