I've been thinking about this, and I think that we three Sarah's should all pick code names so we don't have to type our full names every time. Yes, I am that lazy.
I have memorized Asturiana and intend to sing it in VRH tomorrow if there's time. I think I'll start singing in there as often as I can, not to be annoying, and not to show of in any way, but because I can tell that my nerves are effecting my performances in negative ways and I want that to stop happening. I hope you guys don't mind if you see a lot more of me this semester. Wish me luck people!
I have developed an exercise in an attempt to fix my consonant issues (wherein I place my consonant on the beat instead of just before the beat so that my vowel comes after the beat and I sound perpetually behind). I sing a long with a metronome and pulse with my voice on the beat. It's hard to explain without you hearing it, but it's like I reemphasize the vowel to subdivide. Li-i-i-ke thi-i-i-s you-u-u se-e-e? The brilliance of it is, you cannot pulse in this way with a consonant, only with the vowel. So I know if my vowel is late. Geez. This is impossible to explain. Come ask me about it and I will show you my ways, Young Grasshopper. I think it's helping, but it's still monstrously hard. Especially when I take away the metronome and try to do it with the accompaniment.
My "a-eh-e" exercise is helping me very much! I'm a huge fan of it. The vowels are sounding much more consistent, full, and resonant. Especially when I use the sneezing trick.
I'm going to go sing in the Choir Room now if it's still open, so I'll be ready for VRH. Peace!
