Sam Meredith Partner Practice 10/9

Today I tried to help Caitlin with one of her German pieces. At the beginning of our practice it was just a little tense and she wasn't really getting the sound that she wanted. So, we took a minute to think about some things she can do to make singing the piece more fun for her and help things loosen up a little. She ended up pretending she was a character from a movie whose personality is similar to that of the speaker in the song. When this was implemented her singing was a lot more free and easy. After that Caitlin helped me with 'songs my mother taught me.' Last time I sang this song with accompaniment it was hard for me to be consistent with the rhythm since I sing a simple rhythm against an accompaniment that's in a compound rhythm. Caitlin suggested that I dance in a waltz pattern while I sing. It really helped me get more comfortable with the contrast of rhythms. I think I'm a lot more well prepared to sing the song now.
