Sarah Boucher Masterclass Critiques 10/15

Sarah Boucher Masterclass Critiques 10/15
Brooke: I really like Brooke's tone right away. It was very consistent and I noticed that her jaw was relaxed and open to facilitate a rich tone. I liked how Cindy coached her by working with her pleasant voice speech, this helped to make her sound more authentic to her. I also liked that she told her to turn all the ascending phrases into descending so the high notes will not be as tight. Working from the top of her range down will bring some of the ring she has in the top of her voice to her middle range.  The ghost speaking also really helped to free her voice even more!
LaeKin: LaeKin began to sing with a lot of energy which I really liked. She was ready for feedback and seemed focused and alert. Cindy helped her get her entrances right but having her sing the piano part in an obnoxious way rather than counting. This will help her to internalize those entrances without having to panic and count them out all the time. Cindy also suggested speaking the piece in English to help with memory work, this helped LaeKin remember the word order in German. Another concept that really helped me was when Cindy talked about big space in the mouth and how it is like creating a bigger eye of a needle to pull the thread through.
Emily: At first Emily's sound was a little far back and breathy. As Cindy worked with her on speaking the text and finding herself in her "pleasant voice", the sound was so much clear and free. It was lovely and relaxed. I liked the sound she made when she was connecting to the authenticity of her natural speaking voice. This helped me know how to practice, because I do that same thing! I need to remember to: Speak, Elongate, Elevate and Infect.

Great job ladies!
