Chapter 6 Summary-Many singers are strong in one area, but have trouble in others. It is crucial that we as teachers help them develop a proper balance, i.e. helping them keep their strengths while also improving in areas where they are weak. That is the object of the next exercise, which combines the first two. We sing a simple arpeggio (1-3-5-3-1) on the vowels used in the first exercise on pitches in our comfortable speaking range. We then repeat the exercise moving in random intervals and allowing the airy falsetto voice to take over for pitches we cannot sing in our normal voice.
Key Concept- We can combine the first two inventions by singing an arpeggio with the five vowels on notes that are comfortable for us while allowing the falsetto voice to take over when it needs to
Key Terms- Balance
Making Connections-I think this is an exercise that I will try to implement as it will allow me to increase my strengths and also fix some of my weaknesses.
