Laura B ER Chapter 12

Laura B
Chapter Summary: We all have varying degrees of problems in life. We complain about them, but if given the chance, would we be willing to let them go? Problems are a love-hate relationship. On the one hand, they may cause us stress and anxiety, but on the other hand, those same problems begin to identify us. Letting go of problems is more then a release. It is also accepting a change of self, causing us to walk into the unknown. If we truly desire to let go of our problems, we need to face them full-on. We must ponder the comforts that our problems give us and what our lives would be like without them. If we can't picture ourselves without our problems, we can then picture another person we know who doesn't have our same problems. We then picture ourselves as that person and try to see what our life would be like through their eyes. We need to figure out within ourselves how we truly feel about our problems, and then move on to deciding if change is worth it from there.
Key Concept: What is your problem buying you?
Key Terms: Problems, change
Making Connections: I am always seeking to change, but at times I don't know how. This chapter helped me to realize why change is sometimes difficult for me. What problems have I become comfortable with? It is amazing how quickly we sometimes allow new problems to become part of our identity. If I truly desire to change into something beyond my current problems, I must be willing to be honest with myself and willing to walk into the darkness of the unknown.
