Chapter Summary: It is wonderful to experiment with new ideas, but we must remember that even these new experiments should not turn into formulas for easy fixes. If this happens, they will also become a route to tension and stress. We must continue to explore and discover throughout our whole lives instead of continuing to always try to go back to things that worked before. We must remember that we need to transfer what we learn over to performing in the more traditional way. However, if we continue to experiment and not formulize our knowledge, new ideas will open up to us throughout our lives.
Key Concept: "Experimenting must ultimately lead us back to singing on our feet."
Key Terms: knowledge and truth
Making Connections: I need to not get stuck in the rut of always going back to what used to be successful. Even though at times it takes more effort, I must allow myself to continuously discover and explore, as well as help my students to do so on their own when I am not with them. I want to be a teacher that inspires my students to become independent thinkers outside of relying on the information that I give them.
