LaeKin Burgess SOHH Chapter 14 Summary

Summary: "When we withhold the fullness of our capabilities, we diminish those capabilities. When we explore beyond where we feel safe and secure, we discover abilities beyond our expectations." This just re-emphasizes one of the main themes of this book. We need to give ourselves permission to explore ourselves. We need to give ourselves permission to be "a flop." If we are afraid of flopping then we will only hold ourselves back. We must find ways to let ourselves be free of our inner judges. If we flop then we've learned something new about ourselves and that is good thing.

Key Concept: You might just flop! So, flop already! It's time to explore and learn something new about yourself. If you are afraid of flopping you will only hold yourself back.

Key Term: Flop

Connections: I've had flop experiences and they aren't very fun but you live through them and you learn from them. It's okay not to be perfect and it's okay to laugh at your mistakes and move on.
