Chapter 5 Naked
Voice Summary:
Summary: This has
everything to with the breath! And more specifically to keep air flowing
freely. Phase one of this invention starts with working on your downward sigh.
This is still very much a natural part of the voice. All throughout this
invention, it is important that freedom and looseness of the larynx stays
consistent. Phase two involves an upward siren sound, switching to oh on the
way down. The important part is that ah space stays when we switch to the ooo
vowel. Phase three takes it one step further and includes putting a five note
scale as you descend from the top of your range. This helps keep the breath and
flow consistent, even as you put pitch and specific notes for the exercise.
Key Concept: Good breath flow is connected with a free and open throat.
Key Terms: Siren,
Speaking level pitch
Making connections:
I have mostly worked on having good breath support by practicing expansion, but
not working on singing all that much… This is helpful, because it helps me to
realize that to practice airflow, I need to engage my vocal cords.
