Jared Daley TNV Chapter 6
Summary-
Balance in all things, that's what we need in life. This chapter explains the importance of finding a balance between the first two inventions. The very first suggestion is that you might try over correction a problem you have. If you are are on one end of the spectrum try the other end. Eventually you will find yourself somewhere in the middle. It's referred to in this book like a pendulum. Moderation is the key to pretty much everything in life. A strength can become your biggest weakness. When we find the balance we get the most out of our voice. The exercise he suggests is the arpeggio. The higher we go should feel like sighing and releasing. Every pitch should have the full quality of speaking and sighing. Pure vowel definition once again plays a huge role in perfecting this.
Key term
Key concept: It was kind of a "duh" chapter for me. It was pretty obvious that a balance is going to be needed of the two inventions.
Connection: I think what struck me most was the part about our strengths becoming weaknesses. I can see that already in my own vocal study.
