Jake Spjute-
I really like his high notes but on some of them I feel as those his vocal folds are squeezing in order for him to get the high notes. His breath support is amazing especially on that last note. What is his favorite part to sing? and he answered with the ending is his favorite. So that is the part they worked on. It is interesting I am able to tell when something is off but sometimes i don't know what it is. Cindy said that he sounded almost stuck. Once she changed where he crescendoed and told him to feel it in his body, it fixed itself. Also unicorn horn "nough said"
Luke-
Beautiful tone for his high notes his whole upper body lifts to get it. Just like Cindy told me last week he needs to just trust his vocal chords to get him to that note. He tends to sit back on his heels and needs to "take off" like a bird. Ankles over our arches not our heels. To get the mood of the piece what is your objective? There is something very active and intentional about what he was doing and it makes his singing so much better.
Laura-
You could definitely tell she knew what her text meant. On some of her high notes it took her a few seconds to get the resonance. and her short notes she was "skating" across as Cindy said. She had Laura sing just the short notes and and leave the long notes out in order to make sure she is able sing all of the short fast notes. Silently singing her long notes and vocalizing her short notes made her be able to connect all the notes and made her sound so much better. With out the connection she sounds like she is almost barking. Make sure the small notes have good vowel quality.
