I seem to do better in lists:
- my middle range seems to lack depth and resonance. This is especially present on the [a] vowel, which sounds rather like "uh." Thomas helped me with this by asking me to keep the space of the [o] vowel in my [a]. Also, I just need to open my mouth more in the middle range. The thought of verticalization is also helpful for that middle range.
- The most important thought I received in the whole lesson was about letting space open in the back and go up. I described it to Cindy later as feeling like an L shape; The sound goes up in the back, but it's still coming out of my mouth forward. That seems to be a really important idea for me right now.
- Singing is a holistic exercise. I like to break it apart and analyze it for its separate parts, but that sometimes sabotages everything. Just freaking sing!
- I need to keep a line of legato energy during everything, including consonants. Put the consonants into the line of the energy.
- Let your body be involved! Singing is about the whole body.
Go Go Go Thomas.
