Taylee. Summary:
If we aren’t always honest with ourselves, even when our performance really was
rotten, how can we expect ourselves to really enjoy the moments that we were successful?
The trick though is to not judge ourselves to the point that we beat ourselves
up. Sugar coating things doesn’t help us to get better, it only postpones
reality. Just as we learned in the previous chapter, when we accept the potentially
negative actions, we can then turn them into positive learning experiences.
Key Concepts: “a
positive attitude by itself never produced a fine performer.” Permission to
fail also gives up permission to succeed.
Key Terms: Flop.
Permission to fail.
Making Connections:
I’m getting better at accepting my inability to never fail. In fact, I am
getting less afraid to the point that I’m trying things without hesitation. My
lessons have always been more productive on the days that I learn to trust my
body. If I can learn to be more trusting in myself outside of practice, I think
I’d make even more progress.
