You're expression needs to begin with the accompaniment! You've got a bad habit of waiting with this bored look until you start singing. When you do start singing you are very expressive. But it has to has to has to start when the piece starts! The body is not grounded, there are all sorts of strange wiggles and rolls going on. I don't know if it's nerves or something built in with your singing, but it's distracting, and it's clear the body isn't helping the voice. The voice is so nice! So much potential. Keeping the mouth open will help you move that sound out to fill the room.

You look very very bored. Don't stare down out of the corner of your eyes - look up and let your face and eyes catch the light. The voice is smooth and velvety, the selection is wonderful for you. You aren't quite reaching the pitch at the height of the phrase, on "motherless." You prepare for the high note at the beginning of the phrase. It's all in the breathe. Tapping foot is distracting. The sound is generally back, below the nasal cavity. Needs to tap into higher resonance!

Lovely voice, very nice for the kind of styles she will likely be doing as a music therapist. Nice sensitivity to dynamics throughout the piece. Really good musicality and expression. The airway is getting constricted in the higher register, the larynx is riding right up and giving you a laryngal wedgie. (Hahaha!) The low range is really full and luxurious, especially on the "E" vowel. If you can get the sensation of "E" into the other vowels it would sound so awesome!

There is more air in the tone than tone. Some serious constriction is going on here, from what I'm seeing it is likely the jaw and tongue. The jaw is jutting forward and moving side to side as she sings. The tongue I'm just guessing on, but with a jaw that tense I'm sure the tongue is tied in knots back there. It's causing such a raspy sound. I don't feel like she is putting energy or conviction into her singing.
Bonus Round
Everyone who did the bonus performance improved so much! That was so incredible. They didn't need external feedback - all they needed was a second try. That's why the first attempt rule is so important I suppose, and why it's so important that we get rid of the fear and tension that accompanies singing. Jared was so much more on pitch that the first try. He improved remarkably. Sarah Gee just has the most lovely tone! I feel like it's just this wonderful balance of head and chest voice. And Liz Tait got her shoulders to relax! Way to go Liz! Emily (mezzo) has such a wonderful tone, I really enjoy listening to her voice. She looked so calm up there, even though I know she wasn't. Way to go guys!
