Chapter 14 Summary- As musicians we can be really hard on ourselves sometimes. We put so much pressure on ourselves to do everything absolutely correctly in a performance. Although we may think this is an attitude that will lead to hard work and success it can often lead to frustration and failure. It is actually more beneficial for us to give ourselves permission to fail. When we recognize that failure is a possibility and that the occurrence of failure doesn't constitute the end of the world we can relieve ourselves of a lot of this pressure. Ironically, when we realize and embrace the possibility of failure we are actually less likely to make mistakes.
Key Concept- Acceptance of failure as a possibility actually can have a positive effect on our performance. When we worry less about doing everything perfectly we can relieve ourselves of a lot of pressure, which will lead to more successful performances.

Making Connections- I need to be less concerned about perfection when I practice and when I perform. If I worry less and embrace failure as a possible result I will feel less pressure when I perform and when I do make mistakes they will be far less devastating.
