Ben Shaw: Beautiful
voice. I love the song selection, and as always I love your deep rich sound.
Work on increasing your upper resonance. As you sing, even the low notes, keep
space between your molars to keep the sound bright and "piercing." Most
especially for the low notes. I've learned something from Cindy (that I'm still
working on…) but what she talks about, is as you sing low notes at the bottom
of your range, we usually try to push the sound to try and get more volume, but
if we stop thinking about volume, and start thinking about resonance, then it
actually comes across better. Don't be so concerned with how loud the low note
is, just let it happen and think about your resonance instead! Enjoyed the
performance!
Laura Wride:
Beautiful voice. I enjoyed the song, and the way it was sung. As you breath,
work on having a "filling" sensation. Often I heard gaspy breaths
that were shallow and not filling. As you do this, I think it will help the
long sustained notes in the phrase to shimmer. Work on feeling a sense of
"flow" as you sing the long sustained notes. They start to feel a
little stagnant… If you can keep the air spinning and flowing it will help you
to keep vibrancy to the tone. Beautiful performance.
Bric Slade: I like
the freedom in your voice! Especially up high, it sounds very free and open.
Beautiful tone. I notice that your jaw is a little forward. Kind of like we
talked about in the book (and I still struggle with this a lot…) but work to
keep all of your jaw positions in ah, and then manipulate the tongue! I think
this will help to keep more consistency as you go higher in your voice. Thank
you for the performance.
