Cindy and I did exercises that focused on helping me keep my voice anchored low in my voice by connecting with a 'depth' of emotion. We did arpeggios on a "bee" sound and moaned/cried inbetween arpeggios to get some depth and tug in my voice. We also did descending scales on "be-bay-bah-bo-boo" with a focus on keeping tug as well as finding high head space.
We spent a good amount of time talking about the meaning of my pieces, Die Lotosblume and Der Nussbaum, and identifying action words to find out what I'm doing in this pieces. I found that I can think much more deeply about these pieces than I already have. I know the words and the notes and rhythms but I need to know and FEEL my emotional connection to the piece. I need to repeat this process and identify my action/motive for every piece and any obstacles to my motive.
