Kaylee Ann Simmons:
Jaw seems tight, doesn't sound very open! Beautiful tone, very pleasant to
listen to. Work on keeping space in the molars at all times. The sound was
connected. Also, I was a little distracted by your hands. I do this too
sometimes… I think it’s a conducting thing, but try to keep them still as you
sing, without twitching. Great performance.
Sam Meredith: I see
that you really understand what this piece is about. I like the emotional side
you have brought to the performance. You're posture seems too forward, perhaps
something that would help the sound is to bring your shoulders back- I liked
the sense of line in your sound! Very Legato- I think the posture coupled with
"deeper" breathing would help the sound be more free up high. Very
resonant sound. I like that.
Ashton Lindsay: Nice
song. I like the feeling of this song, and it fits your voice really well. I like the light quality that is associated
with the style of singing! One thing that would help your performance is to
keep your vowels more open. Especially on the "e" and "eh"
vowel. Work on keeping those vowels open, this will help you to keep the sound
more consistent and open. Great performance. It's hard working with
accompanists who don't know the music that well… But stay strong, don't
apologize and keep your cool. :)
Randy Wellbaum:
Randy, your voice has improved a lot since last year!! Keep fighting to stop
moving your head so much as you sing. This has also improved a lot, but keep
working on it!! Your voice has nice resonance, but is a little nasily. Work on
releasing the jaw- I see lots of jaw movement in your singing, if you can make
your vowels a little more consistent, than I think that would help make a big
difference in the resonance. It would stay rich like it is, but with a little
less nasal. Well done on the performance!
