Summary-
The introduction is an introduction to the inventions. An invention is simply taking existing materials and organizing them into a new form for new use. The goal in all of this is to create a Chiaroscuro balance, which is the balance between light and dark sound. He refers to speaking at the bright part of the voice and breathing as the dark. Bright and Dark are only metaphorical opposites. Chiaro is normal taught and what teachers prefer because it has the ability to cut through and orchestra. A balance is what is truly needed. Before we learn of the inventions we must know the 4 qualifiers of speech. Projection, line, defined vowels, and our whole instrument.

Key Concept: Just as in all things there has to be a balance of light and dark. The pingy or bright speech like quality vs the color, or resonance.
Connection: I honestly think through my progression I've switched back and forth between the chiaro and the ocsuro, but I definitely do not have a balance. But I recognize when I get close because it literally feels like a fine balancing act when i get it right.
