Elizabeth Tait Masterclass 10.8.13

 Brad Summers:
Things I liked:
- Consistency of tone throughout the range
- nice vibrato speed, very healthy sounding
- Italian diction was very nice to listen to
- good shoulder stance
- good natural buzz in the voice in all registers
- some spots that were very musical.
Things that need work:
- Don't move around while you introduce yourself, plant yourself instead.
- Stop swaying while you are singing
- larynx goes up with ascending pitch (the problem we all have)
- powerful eyes, but they aren't being used to his advantage, because they are shifty.
- no full release on quick breaths.  Only partial release
- don't close your eyes when you recall happy memories
- Brad seems very secretive, I want to see more of who he is when he sings

Sarah Gee
Things I liked:
- the immediate transformation in your face when the music began.  Very convincing
- good confident introduction, convinced me that you knew what you were doing
- good buzzy tone
- such wonderful intensity in your eyes, and they never lose focus!  Wonderful!
Things that need work:
- Open your mouth!  Restricted jaw
- You have a habit of leaning your head to the right as you sing, try to be aware of that
- I sense a closing of the pharynx and you ascend in pitch
- I get the sense your body is closing down when you sing, and I think it's an emotional thing.  I think you need a clear sense of your own future success, and also give yourself permission to fail.  You look so nervous to make a mistake, that we become uncomfortable!

Sarah Brenay
Things I liked:
- nice posture girl!
- I love you, but I didn't write down any more
 Things that need work:
- I would love for you to be more clear and confident in directing your accompanist
- Make sure there is vibrato on every note, and more energy!
- A calm piece of music does not mean your body needs to be calm.  You seemed too serene
- Dead eyes, seemed to be focusing on your voice.  But understandable
- Blinky eyes too!  Be aware of that in videos of yourself
- Immediate vowel activity is not good, vowel needs to be fully formed on inception.  But we already talked about this.

Love for you all!!
