Elizabeth Tait Ch. 10 Summary

Chapter Summary: Relativism is the word that kept popping into my mind in this chapter.  There is no absolute good and bad, and this is especially true in finding pedagogical methods.  Sometimes we become obsessed with finding the "right" way to do something, when that attitude actually closes us off to finding our own answers.  And every time you adopt another system of wisdom other than your own, you must sacrifice a bit of your own wisdom to do so.  Therefore, learning how to teach is a process of experimentation in which there is no one answer for every student.  And if you let the student come up with their own answers, even better!
Key Concepts: There is no right way to accomplish a vocal task, and our curiosity and vision are the best ways to teach yourself.
Key Terms: I'm changing key terms to key quotes: "Hey, guess what I discovered!"  is what I should be thinking as a student, and "Hmmm, interesting." is what to think as a teacher.
Making Connections: I had a moment for the first time this semester where I felt that "Hey, guess what I discovered" feeling, and it was great!  When I feel curious and excited, I feel like I'm really learning.
