Brooke Myers: Diction needed more focused and accurate in vowels. I felt like her vowels were wide. The diphthong in "auf" sounded like "off", this diphthong is very typical German, and would help improve the authenticity of the diction. Also, when "i" and "e" are side by side in a word you pronounce the second vowel sound. For example in the word "leise" would have the vowel sound of "i". I sensed that she wasn't preparing for her high notes with proper resonance space, and maintaining a low laryngeal position. Cindy worked on making her phrases more musical and meaningful. She said to think of the vocal line as a line, not a note by note melody. This seemed to help Brooke.
Laekin Burgess: I sensed some tightness or tension in the back of the neck and shoulders. Breath seemed to lack a sense of release, which is understandable because Wolf is super fast and frightening. Her chin would dip down at times when she was singing. Good effort and work on the German! It sounded very authentic and crisp. One thing to watch for is your nervous hands, and constant shifting of weight; it can distract from your performance.
Emily Floyd: Great German! :) Emily had some low breaths, but I didn't feel the position of the inhale was maintained completely. I wanted to that resonance space falling in front of you, rather than having it resonate inside (this is something I'm currently working on). Think of the soft palate rising up with the tung of the larynx downwards in front of you. Talking and then singing it also helps with this endeavor.
