Caitlin Craig ER Chapter 13

Chapter Summary: We all have things that happen to us before or while we perform.  Our adrenaline can act out in lots of different ways, and can effect our performances.  Learning and focusing on how our body reacts to the stress of performance, and help us know how to stop the symptoms, or learn how to deal with them.  We must give ourselves the permission to fear, because once we give ourselves permission, we can use that extra energy or adrenaline and use it as energy in our voice.
Key Terms:
Key Concepts: Focusing on making the nervousness more intense, will often make it go away or lessen.  Fake a feeling of composure until it becomes your body's norm.
Making Connections: I have tried to focus more on what muscles in my body are tensing before and during performances.  I have found that I often squeeze my back muscles, arch my back, and squeeze my behind.  Since recognizing this, I had made an effort to consciously release these muscles.  I have had some success in finding that release, but I still have a long way to go.  I think I want to try the fake it until you make it advice.
