Brooke's Voice Lesson
10/3/13
This week I was not as prepared which is my own dang fault and I promise to do better. I am having a hard time getting everything done and my singing suffers for it. Laurie and I talked about it though and have come up with a plan to help. I decided that is has to be the first thing I do especially on the weekends or else it just won't get done. If I do this I definitely won't have problems memorizing and getting my pieces ready for my barrier jury this semester.
We worked on the song "Cabin" today in my lesson. I have a tendency to become lazy on english songs thinking that I don't have to work as hard because it is in my native language. Boy am I wrong. Laurie and I went through the text over and over again working on the emotional side to see if that would correct the mistakes that I was doing in my song. The 3rd time through was when it finally clicked if I just stopped focusing on my "tight" neck and focused more on what the words were saying and the story behind the music it fixed itself. My jaw unlocked and dropped and my neck relaxed.
I want to have Quando Men Vo memorized as well as Cabin and two of my remaining song analysis done.
