Brooke's SOHH Chapter 12 Summary

Brooke's SOHH chapter 12 Summary- An addiction to problems plagues lots of performers. We focus so much on the problems and don't find any solutions that eventually we believe that no solution can be found. We as performers also get stuck in the habit of starting at the beginning of the piece going all the way through and not stopping when we make a mistake. Performers and even humans in life can carry "a certain amount of pride in the very problems that distress us". Getting over this addiction is vital to becoming a true musician.

Key Concept- Addiction to the problem does not solve anything.

Key Terms- addiction to problems

Connections- I focus on my problems a lot, the biggest problem I have found is that I take those problems and think they define me as a singer and a person. Most of my song I am doing correct things but I focus on the negative and then think that I am a awful singer. This chapter was somewhat of an eye opener. I need to switch my focus still acknowledging my mistakes but working on them one at a time.
