Jaron Putnam SOHH Ch. 8 Summary

Jaron Putnam SOHH Ch. 8 Summary

SOHH Chapter 8 Summary:
There is a lot of power to words. Words used correctly can unlock something within us. It can help as a musician connect to a piece of music in a more real way. On the flip side, words can ruin the music, break connection, and lead to uninspiring music. What this chapter teaches us is to find the power of words. The process can be described by making sure you completely FEEL the emotion you want to portray before you give it a describing word. Once the right feeling is in place everything else can fit, and the emotion can take on a deeper meaning.

Key Concept: Words can be powerful ways to help connect you to the music. But you must use the right words.

Terms: Words

Making Connections: Describing the feeling or emotion I want to get out in a song or work is important. I need to spend some time thinking about this as I practice and try and make a connection to music. I need to feel it first. Describe it second. Feel it again third.
