Ben Shaw ER chapter 8 summary

Chapter summary: This chapter, though as short as Laura Berg, contained a gem of wisdom worth keeping. Our author describes in this chapter how words can sometimes be a hindrance to learning and feeling. This can happen because we confuse ourselves with the wrong words or with too many. Bottom line, our author says, "[our] bod[ies] are smarter than [we] thought," and, if I may add, so are the unconscious parts of our brain.
Key concept: words, however helpful, can be a hindrance.
Key terms: "word-squared boundaries"
Making connections: Sometimes, I wonder if subtext can be damaging. Not that it's bad to be able to say in words the mental/emotional picture one has for a song, but perhaps it can, at times, be damaging.
