Brooke's SOHH Chapter 7 Summary- "If we put out energies only into getting to our destination or reading our goal, we block our sensibilities along the way." We are not able to see the whole entire picture when just focusing on one little thing. She uses this analogy to help students with not looking down at their fingers. If they can get a sense of everything around them then they can just look at the music with no need to look down at their fingers even if they made a mistake.
Key Concepts- Seeing the overall picture is better than looking just beyond and the next goal.
Key Terms- Over-look, over-try, over-instruct
Connection- Overall I think this book is trying to tell the same thing over and over. No one is the same and therefore there learning styles are different. It gives us several different ways to help us find what the students learning techniques as well as our own.
