Sarah Boucher Lesson Summary 3/17

Today's lesson was fairly chill because of my recital preview that was happening later in the day. We warmed up very lightly: octave ooh's, ah to oo speaking and then to pitch and getting high. Over spring break my allergies were out of control, I am still kind of flemmy so we weren't gonna push it too much. We started all my pieces and only sang through a few that I was the most nervous about. It was helpful just to think through each piece and get some last minute feedback. I learned that when I get nervous rhythm goes out the window, haha I had so many weird rhythmic errors and breathing issues that I didn't have before. I know that I need to really solidify my breaths so that in my recital I default to the correct way to do it! I need to keep focusing on jaw release, on some pieces I have it and then on others I go back to my bad old habits. I found the lesson really helpful in getting my ready for my preview, it helped me feel more prepared and relaxed.
