LaeKin Burgess- MayeRee B. Lesson Plan #5 for 3/27
MayeRee is still having trouble with finding intrinsic pitch change and complete release in her tongue. I think she may be one of those students that Cindy says have tons of tongue tension but can't even tell it's tense because they "feel" completely released. I think I was that way too...this is going to be a long road. I will use the wobble, primal sounds, [pwa] sounds on 5-3-1, lip trills and 5-4-3-2-1 with her tongue out to try warm her up and get her released. Then, I'll do octave leaps on [u] first descending then reascending than descending again to try to get her to not care about the top pitch and keep the same feeling in her throat there as she does at the bottom. This exercise may be easier to try with 5ths instead of octaves so maybe we'll try both. Also, I'll have her pantomime from a higher pitch and vocalize only when she feels she can do so without changing her low laryngeal position.
