Sarah Boucher Kathy Lesson Plan for January 21st

Sarah Boucher Kathy Lesson Plan for January 21st
PLAN:
-Stretch
-Breath exercises: laying on the floor to find deep breath (emphasis on feeling it through your back), stand up and release breath as a "S".
-Warm ups (Specific focus on low and grounded breath): Start from yawn/sigh speaking to pitch, Oh no no descending five tone, attach release staccato Ah's and whatever else she needs!
-Look at the music she brings, and begin work. (Focusing on breath still)
GOALS:
Short-
1. Help Kathy find that low breath especially through her back. She has experience with voice lessons and was telling me that she knows about "breathing from the diaphragm" so I just want to take it a bit further and explain that is more then just the stomach. I think laying on the floor is very helpful for this and will help her to at least find it.
2. Help Kathy find that breath stability and support on warmups - at least so that she knows when it is right and when it is not. I hope to achieve this by moving from primal sounds to warmups.
Long-
1. I want to help Kathy know what it feels like to have a low full breath so for the long term, I want her to be able to distinguish when she is using it and when she isn't. I want her to be able to not only find it but utilize it while she is singing to make her sound have more presence and energy.
