Caitlin Craig 1/17/14

Thursday was my first voice lesson with Brianna for the semester.  We talked about goals for this semester, and spoke about rep for me to learn and finalize for my senior recital.
One goal that I have also spoken to Cindy about was the goal of being at a state of release when I begin singing, not have it be a long process to get there everyday when I begin vocalizing.  Another is to practice in a way that is full of energy.  And last, finding that space between the upper molars/opening my mouth.
Brianna picked out some music for me to listen to and pick for my senior recital. We found some Faure songs from his Venetian song group, some Purcell songs, and Pupille amate by Mozart.  I will be listening to these songs, and choosing accordingly for the remainder of my recital.  So far we have finalized:
4 Wolf Songs
Papageno/Papagena duet
2 Bach Cantatas
Laurie's Song

After we talked rep, we did some vocalizes.  I showed Brianna some of the vocalizes Cindy and I have been working on, and felt like I exhibited release and easy sound.  Brianna then told me that she wanted me to start working on a few ascending scales; i.e. "Please" and some ascending trill-like exercises.  I forgot how to sing them, so I will be asking her on Thursday about them.
In they meantime, my goal is to pick some songs to start learning, and speaking new texts in a dramatic stage voice.
