Sarah Brenay - Emma Wright - Lesson Plan 1/25/14

-A few minutes of chit chat to put us both at ease and help me get to know Emma better.
-A few minutes to ask about her week, how her exercises went, how her voice is feeling, and to assess what she remembers about posture and breathing from last week. I think this conversation can happen while we are stretching and getting our bodies released.
-Around ten minutes for warm ups. I'm nervous about this part because it cannot be planned ahead! I will have to start with some easy, non taxing exercises and then just see where her voice takes me! It's scary to improvise
-That leaves around 10 minutes to look at repertoire for her. We're sticking to folk songs for now because that's what she likes and I think it will be a nice, healthy starting place. I've got a bunch of songs I think she might like and we'll just look through them together and she can pick.

Short term goal: get her to use her head voice with fully adducted vocal cords and recognize the difference between pushing the sound out, and letting the sound come. I want to use voiced consonants in warm ups to help her find the sensation of adduction.

Long term goal: get her tone consistent through the low and high range, and help her sing with freedom and with her full voice.
