Sarah Boucher Lesson Summary 1/27

-Vocalizations: My lesson is at 9:30 so thank heavens for all the vocalization we did! sighing, panting, sideways figure eights while releasing the breath as a hiss, sirens, ni-ne-na-no-nu speaking and then on random pitches, octave leaps on lip buzz, the wobble, Brown's version of the wobble, primal ah to descending five tone, two-toe, octave leaps on oo, Getting high
-Helpful Vocalizations: I really liked the octave leaps on lip buzzes, it really helped me to think about not moving my larynx for pitch changes because it is such a large jump. I felt relaxed and my larynx felt nice and low. I also liked the primal ah to descending five tone, it just felt so natural and loose. It also helped me to work on my low range. For Tarzan I have to hit the f below middle C so it was helpful in getting my low voice warm. Also nothing gets my high voice as warm as "getting high", I love that one, and it feels so good!
-Music worked on: Chanson Norvegienne, Nana, Asturiana
-Take aways: Now, that I know my songs well, I need to work on knowing the accompaniment through practice with Emma and listening to recordings.
-Impact on weekly practice: This lesson just helped to reaffirm the importance of a good warm up. We warmed up so well that when I went to sing, I was already to have my larynx low, jaw loose, breath low etc. I often just try to quickly warm up so I can get to my music but it should be the reverse, because if I warm up correctly and take the time it will take me less time to work through my pieces.
-Goals for next week: Mostly my goals for next week are to keep this memorizing train going. So far my goal has been two pieces a week and I have been meeting it so I just have to keep it up. I will have two pieces I memorized all ready to go to sing them for Laurie next week and get feedback on them.
