Jake Spjute Angeles Lesson Plan January 17

This is our first lesson, so I really just want to get an idea of where her voice is at right now. I started just by getting to know her a little better, what she likes to sing etc. I've heard her sing a little bit in LDV but I have never really heard just her by herself. I thought that I would have her sing a hymn from the LDS hymnbook so I could observe her and look for any problems she may have. I decided I would start with breathing and see where it would go from there. My plan is to explain how the diaphragm works and talk about how most people breath and how a singer should breath. I plan to show her a breathing routine demonstrating how the ribs and back should expand.
