Chapter Summary: Emotions and stress can greatly affect a performer's singing. Sometimes there is just something we can't quite put our finger on and other times we know exactly what it is that is bothering us and need to work to fix it. Biofeedback can be very helpful in decreasing stress. If we pay more attention to when our body is tense, we are more aware of what is causing that tension and can work to eliminate the cause. Often singers need frequent encouragement for their career. Sometimes this doesn't come from outward sources and we need to always be encouraging ourselves forward.
Key Concept: Understanding and decreasing stress can benefit singing.
Key Terms: enigma, biofeedback
Making Connections: I need to be more aware of what is causing negative stress in my life and find better ways of handling these situations. Especially in practicing, I need to relax more and not worry so much.
