Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 10

Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 10

Chapter 10 Summary Oren Brown:

Summary: There was A LOT to this chapter. This was the chapter on articulation. So this included everything that we all need to know about vowels and consonants. Each and every vowel Has a unique set of overtones associated with the vowel. The vowels are all determined by these formants and are shaped by the position of the lips and tongue. As we move through the vowels the lips and tongue have to react and move in certain ways. These are the ONLY things that have to change. Another important part of the chapter dealt with consonants, and dipthongs. All in all this chapter outlined all of the important parts of articulation, and then Oren Brown outlined different ways to practice all of these things. This reminded me of Stephen Smith and refining the vowel. These are all things need to be worked on and refined.

Key Concept: Vowels are complicated things… I never have really understood that until this semester.

Vocabulary:
Formants, Dipthongs, Consonants, Vowels

Making Connections:

What I love about this whole book, is that he gives exercises to help with what he is talking about. I feel like there is a lot of things I can work on!
