Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 8

Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Summary Oren Brown:

Summary: I love this chapter. This is a chapter that talks about the importance of resonance. Many people think that a "big" voice is one that seems to be large and fill the hall with ease. Resonance teaches us that you can fill the hall… It is filled by an idea called carrying capacity. Carrying capacity is determined by the resonance of the body. Oren Brown talked a lot about how this is increased and developed by freeing the muscles used for singing. If free easy singing is achieved, then there should be no problems with having a very resonant free sound. Resonance doesn't come with intensity of breath or pushing the sound! Resonance comes from free and easy singing!

Key Concept: Power in singing comes from Resonance which comes from free and open resonators in the voice. These resonators have the greatest "resonance" when they are open, free, and relaxed.

Key Terms: Carrying Capacity

Making Connections: Cindy tells me this all the time! And I think it slowly starting to sink in. I need to continue to sing free- particularly in my nasal pharynx. This will help me have the best and most free sound. It will sound "off the voice"!
