Sarah Boucher OB Chapter 21 Summary

Sarah Boucher OB Chapter 21 Summary
Chapter Summary: Being a voice teacher is hard! Every student is different, there are no set rules! If you desire to become a good teacher you must have a technical knowledge of the voice. It is important also that voice teachers never stop seeking growth from their own voice. Knowing your students is huge in helping them, a good teacher will strive to get to know them as a person as well as knowing their voice.
Key Points:
-A good teacher has good ears, the ears can tell you things the eyes can't!
-"It is better to go too slow than too fast" (241)
-"Teaching must be a two way process--teacher tells student, student tells teacher." (241)
-A good teacher will know what the student's objectives are and help them to achieve it.
Key Terms:
Making Connections: I highlighted "Teaching must be a two way process--teach tells student, student tells teacher." so think that it bled through the page! That quote just sums up how to teach well, in my opinion. It is so easy to preach to someone and give them a long list of what to do, but what makes a good teacher is when they require the student to think and give answers! I hope to apply this to my teaching someday :)
