DC Chapter 1 Summary
Th search is on for unifying elements in talent hotbeds. Tools for getting skill seekers into that prime productive zone are presented in two examples. One example is of a Brazilian soccer training method of using a smaller, more intense faster moving version of the game to push students to adapt and pushes them into situations that challenge their capabilities in order to stretch them further. The second example is of the "Link" trainer. A small flight simulator that allows pilots to train in the most dangerous scenarios without the risk of death or injury. Both of these incubating experiences create an efficient and safe place to embrace mistakes and learn from them.
Key Concepts:
1) There must be challenge in order to make more focused efficient practice.
2) Mistakes must not be seen as failure, to be embraced as tool for success.
Key Terms:
Sweet spot
Zone

Mistakes
Challenge
Making connections:
Students need to embrace mistakes as opportunity rather that fear them.
Students need to be challenged. If it's to easy, it's all just lame repetition, and therefore useless and wasting my time and theirs.
