Chapter 1 summary

There is so much more to practicing effectively than just going through your work over and over again. In order to truly learn and remember what you have learned for a long period of time you have to fail over and over again until you succeed. This form of practice helps us learn at a much faster rate, and binds the information to our memory in a much more effective way.

Key concept: we have to fail many times in order to achieve once.

Key terms: deep practice, sweet spot

Making connections: I am excited to implement these ideas into my practicing. I know that I will have to challenge myself and not be afraid to fail in order to learn faster and to truly remember everything that I learn. I also loved the story of the Brazilian kid learning that crazy move.. When I was in Argentina I saw  and played in many soccer games on little cement courts like the author describes and I can personally testify that these little South American kids can beat teenage white boys with ease, due to this desire that they have to be an amazing soccer player. There are tons of players that have gone on to be pros because they wanted it bad enough and applied deep practice into their regimen. I love this book!
