Critiques From Brooke

Critiques – from Brooke Myers
Sarah Brenay
I felt that she breathed from her stomach about 40% and Chest 60% which is good because she would remember and bring her breathing back. Her pitch was on and her timbre was clear and mature. Diction wise some words I couldn't understand but most of them I could. Her expression of the music was good and got even better when the guy(whose name I have forgotten) started to sing. If I could I would tell her to project a little more remember her posture. Overall I enjoyed her performance she was fun to watch and to listen to.
Sarah Boucher
Sarah's breathing was ok but I think she forgot about her support at times. and her intonation was spot on. I would describe her voice as bright and light at times and yet full at others. Her words were clear and I could understand what she was saying. She was very expressive it made her fun to listen to. A reminder to pay attention to her breathing is all the critique I would give. Her overall performance was very convincing and I enjoyed watching her.
Taylee Beckstead
Her breathing was supportive and came from her diaphragm. Intonation was great and her voice sounded confident and fulsome! I could tell that she was singing in german but I couldn't tell where the words started or ended. That could be a fault of my own though. She was very detailed when it came to her expression. I could tell that she knew what she was talking about even though I am pretty sure german is not her first language. Her overall performance was very well done :)

Mariah Boyer-
Her breathing definitely came from her diaphragm, her intonation was good for the most parts I felt that because of nerves she may have missed a note or two. I would say her voice is chesty and deep with a very rich sound. Beautiful in my opinion. I think her diction with her foreign words was actually better for her singing technique than her english. But diction all around was well done. Her expression while sincere and serene, could have been a bit more diverse. My advice to her would be to loosen her jaw on her higher notes. Her performance was beautiful she was confident and new her songs, all in all very well done.

Carolee Beck-
Carolees breathing came from her chest the majority of the time but she was still able to support her voice well with it. She was spot on with pitch and her voice is so much fun to listen to. I would describe it as being sultry and breathy at times but it improved her overall performance a lot. I could understand her very well and her expressions were what the song called for. My advice to her would be to work on better breathing techniques and then better support will come. Loved her performance and I thought she did well.

Emily Colttam
Emilies Breathing came from the correct place which helped her support her song. Intonation at the beginning was a bit off but I am assuming that was from nerves and it got better as she went. Her voice was rich and a little heavy and her Italian was pretty good. He non aspirate “t's” were very nice for her diction. Her expression was pretty good and I could kind of follow what the song was saying by her expressions. My advice would be to elongate her vowels. I liked her performance overall.

        Caitlyn Craig
So caitlyn's performance although short was good. She used her diaphragm to support her voice and and good intonation. I would call her voice light and at some time a little breathy. Her diction from my knowledge of French was good but I am sadly no expert on the language. Her expressions I would call mysterious. She kept her eyes in one place the whole time yet moved her head. I am not quite sure what she meant to do with this but I took it as mysterious.

Laura Beng
Her breathing was well done and supportive. Intonation was amazing and I would describe her voice and bell like especially when she went high. Some words were understandable but I think diction for her middle range needs a bit of help. Expression wise she could give me a bit more but I could tell she was trying. My advice would be to project more in her middle range and use clearer diction in her middle range. Overall performance she was confident, and looked and sounded great!
