Chapter Summary: Curacao little league member named Andruw
Jones playing for the Atlanta Braves over comes a tricky pitch by Yankee player
Andy Pettitte. The hall of fame moment later becomes an ignition for hundreds
of boys on the Curacao little league team. The goal for ignition is to keep it
fired for a long period of time. The Curacao little league team members would
use workout from the players before to help them achieve the same success.
Through motivation language hope and dreams are created but are still instilled
with struggle. Baseball was constantly on the players’ minds and primal signals
helped to create that passion and drive.
Key Concept: The collection of primal signals create
ignition.
Key Terms: primal signals, keeping motivational fires lit,
Heart. Mind. Balls (ovaries), confidence building, motivational language.
Connection: I connect with this especially with my fathers
motto of “work hard, play hard”. I call
my father about 2 times a day and every time I talk to him he tells me to stay
strong and gives me a motivational speech about how he knows it’s hard now but
just think about later in life. When times get rough and the distance from my
family gets in the way of my immediate focus, I try to tell myself that I just
need to push a little hard.
