system form the Knowledge Is Power Program. KIPP uses the long-term goal of
college to create motivation for their students. The teachers of KIPP ensure
their students know the importance of the motto “everything is earned”. Success

can lead to academic achievements.
Key Concept: The brain is a muscle that needs to made
stronger with motivation language.
Key Terms: Be nice, work hard, [a sense of] belonging,
signal rich words, character is a skill
Connection: One thing that I am personally struggling with
is self-discipline. What I question is, where does self-motivation come from?
Sometimes when I practice my music, I easily get distracted and go on you tube.
While I am on you tube I spend quite a few time listening to different artist
that are singing the same piece of music. I say to myself “wow that was nice”
or “ Dang! How did she/he do that”. After, I get inspire to work harder. I feel
that sometimes you cannot rely on someone else to say you can do it but you
need to find that spark within yourself.
