Chapter Summary: Deep practice is created by three
components, which include energy, passion, and commitment. Motivation is
created through a process called ignition. Passion from others provides fuel
for the firing circuits in order to get better. Others are inspired by ones
possession of talent and by responding to motivational words of “you can do
this”. Ignition can be defined as a mysterious burst and lighting flashes that
can create talent hurricanes. Making
sure an idea is set in place before practicing begins can set up an effective
ending result.
Key Concept: A positive vision should be set in place to
create motivation, which will then lead to ignition.
Key Terms: perception of self, better get busy, motivation,
ignition fuel, identity and groups
Connection: I remember watching a Leontyne Price interview
and being so inspired to do better. I made a goal for myself to do better as an
opera singer but most of all to try to be an inspiration to others in whatever
I ended up doing in life. A lot of the
times I try to do my best for my families’ future. I often ask myself how will
children view me. I want my hard work now to inspire my children later.
